About BenGurWaves
Ben Gur was born in 2008 to a musical family. His great-grandmother, his grandmother, and his father were musicians, making a three-generation fabric of music. His father began his own journey in the Soviet Union, studying piano, guitar, and later the violin. He had composed four albums by his mid-twenties and, having immigrated to the United States, became very active in local church music — leading choirs and singing groups.
Ben's childhood was similarly so. At six, he began piano lessons and quickly became better than all those around him. He was learning to play the saxophone in school band and playing in his church band at eight. At ten, he picked up the guitar and had it mastered within three years. In parallel, he finished the Royal Conservatory of Music piano program in three years, rather than six, and diversified into violin, cello, bass, and viola — mostly self-instructed. When Ben was 15, he had a résumé that few others shared: choirs, orchestras, solo recitals, and proficiency on nearly every family of instruments.
Ben avoided writing music of his own despite all this talent. He avoided perseverance from family, friends, and mentors due to shyness. Until he went on a trip to Missouri which transformed his life, in which a passionate debate with his cousin finally made him take the step. BenGurWaves came into existence in March 2025. His early work, however, was superficial — uploads done out of habit and not passion. But in the summer vacation in July, he got back on track. Music was not a hobby; it was a calling.
It was that epiphany that gave way to The Six Views Album,an introduction to his creative potential, and then a promise made to himself: each song would receive his whole heart, or none at all. The outcome was Finally Home, October 10, 2025 — an album conceived of integrity, determination, and the heart to start anew.
From family tradition to individual success, the life of Ben is a history of sound — one that grows stronger, more full, and more meaningful with each passing year.
